The University Environmental Sustainability Strategy sets two ambitious targets: to achieve net zero carbon and to achieve biodiversity net gain, both by 2035
Through a range of programmes and services, our Environmental Sustainability team is helping the University to reach these goals and to increase its positive impact on the world around us.
With more than 26,000 students and 235 buildings, the University of Oxford is a large organisation. We recognise the impact we have on our surroundings and take this responsibility seriously. It means we are committed to creating an environment where staff, students and visitors can work, travel and study more sustainably.
Sustainability affects all aspects of life and we all have a part to play. We help departments to reduce the University’s environmental impact through sustainable building design, procurement, recycling schemes and the efficient management of energy, water and waste.
