Green Action Week 2025: Call for collaboration

page header oxford green action week

Green Action Week 2025 will take place from 10-14 February and will feature various activities throughout the collegiate University.

Green Action Week aims to foster environmental improvements in all parts of the University through networking and exchanging ideas. The week will engage students and staff with sustainability-focused research and activities, raise awareness of environmental issues, encourage participation in Green Impact and LEAF (Laboratory Efficiency Assessment Framework) and celebrate sustainability achievements across the University.

This year, we are placing a special emphasis on the ‘actions’ that can drive better practices and behaviour change to help lead to tangible results.

We invite everyone to initiate local events to drive change in their department/college or colleagues' group (for example in your community of practice or local network).

You are also welcome to offer any other event or activity that aligns with your interests and capacity, such as academic talks, social events, networking, exhibits, etc.

Here are some event ideas from previous years for inspiration:

  • Host plant-based potluck lunch with friends and colleagues
  • Clothes swap, second-hand book sale or seeds and bulbs exchange
  • Sustainability hackathons
  • Green space volunteering
  • Sustainability themed formals/gatherings
  • Environmentally themed film screenings
  • Sustainable building tours
  • Biodiversity walks

This list is by no means exhaustive – we welcome your unique ideas and suggestions!

If you have an event in mind and would like to host it, please register your interest using the sign-up form. We will be in touch with further details. The deadline for submissions is 17 January 2025. Don’t worry if you don’t have all the details of your event yet – the form is designed to help guide your planning.
