Curriculum

Oxford provides an exciting and challenging learning environment, training future generations of researchers, innovators and leaders in sustainability.

We give our students the opportunity to develop their knowledge, understanding and skills to become the sustainability leaders of the future. The University curriculum reflects its wide expertise in the fields of climate change, biodiversity and sustainability. Sustainability-related opportunities for internships and training courses are offered to students, and student societies are pioneering extra-curricular courses.

These opportunities will be built upon and extended to all students.

New Small Grants Programme

The Environmental Sustainability team is excited to announce a new small grants programme to support research and education projects that advance the University of Oxford’s Environmental Sustainability Strategy. The programme will run as a pilot during 2024-2026 and offers a total of £65,000 for small research, education and engagement projects.

Our commitments

  • Ensure courses with core and optional sustainability content are easily identifiable.
  • The Education Committee will encourage and monitor existing degree programmes’ development of further environmental sustainability streams in the core curriculum.
  • Consider and support new courses related to interdisciplinary environmental and social sustainability questions.
  • Extend existing opportunities for extra-curricular study of environmental sustainability, internship programmes and short courses to all students.
